Orchids in the UK
As well as the Ghost Orchid, the UK is home to a wide range of stunning species, from the abundant Common Spotted Orchid to the rare and magnificent Lady's Slipper. 52 species in total are found on our shores, ranging in habitats as diverse as the dense pine forests of the North, the bogs, heaths and mires of the Welsh uplands, from the unusual networks of limestone pavements, to the classic orchid strewn grasslands. These beautiful flowers are a must-see during the spring and summer months, and a snapshot of each species is illustrated below.
